PERSONAL HISTORY
Graeme was born in 1951 in Calgary, Alberta and during his youth Graeme lived in Alberta, British Columbia and Manitoba. He completed his post secondary education in South Carolina and BC, receiving his teaching certification through Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC. Graeme spent six years as an elementary school teacher in the Northwest Territories following graduation and this experience was to dramatically influence his artistic direction.

ARTISTIC TRAINING
Graeme's mother was an artist and trained him throughout his youth. She inspired him to pursue art and made sure that he attended every class offered by artists in the cities the family lived in.

Though some art courses were taken by Shaw in his university days he had no interest in pursuing a formal art training. His style and artistic focus were already well developed by that time.

CURRENT STATUS
At present Graeme Shaw's reputation as a Canadian Artist has moved from a regional recognition to an international one. Sale of his work through northern galleries have been so successful that at present his watercolours, oils and acrylics can be found in collections around the world.

Though largely concerned with arctic landscape and peoples, his work is quite diverse and is becoming increasingly so. With trips planned to the southwest Unites States and to Hawaii, the topics of his paintings will most likely be influenced by his travels. He has been invited to show in galleries in both locations.

Graeme's work has been extremely well received not only throughout Northern Canada but Western Canada also. With his work residing in numerous corporate collections both nationally and internationally. He is an artist who has established his reputation in the art world, several galleries in Canada now represent Graeme. We always look forward to new works from Graeme Shaw.
