Regina was born in a small village in East Germany, immigrating to Canada at age seven with her mother and grandmother. Her new home began in a Saskatchewan farming community. She explored her rural surroundings with a keen curiosity and wonder. Gradually she explored the diverse, rugged landscapes of the western Canadian provinces living a time in each one.
Being an only child, drawing became a language for her in early childhood and drawing and painting continues to be the way she expresses herself with "ardent passion". Trained as a nurse at the University of Saskatchewan and raising two daughters, she continued to paint as time permitted, taking occasional workshops and classes. Since 2000 she has been painting full time at last, giving full reign to a life long passion. She continues to learn from world class artists and attends focused workshops such as River Rock Studios, Cochrane, Alberta.
Regina has an insatiable desire to develop and push the boundaries, and embraces her diverse styles as a unique gift. She paints with remarkable energy, allowing the subject to dictate style. Regina feels each work deserves that kind of commitment, liberty and integrity. The vibrancy of her colours and bold brushwork, evidenced in her works, is indicative of the freedom she has in expressing herself.
God's creation, people she meets, travel and strong personal convictions motivate and challenge her. She desires in some way to engage the viewer in each unique piece.
Regina's works are in some public and numerous private collections.
