Gordon has been painting and drawing since about 7 years old. His first show of original works was in the Mido Gallery on Main St. in Vancouver in 1972. He has traveled, drawn and painted throughout the world. Gordon lived, studied and created in France, mostly in the northern town of Lille and Paris. For a few months he lived in the Hague in Holland where he studied under a well known French pen and ink artist then traveled through most of Europe and ended up living and drawing in pencil and pen and ink in the Greek Islands for almost a year. From there he traveled to the far east through Turkey, Iran and into Afghanistan where he lived and created for about five months and then moved on to Pakistan and India. Gordon has also traveled extensively throughout North America including Mexico and is in the process of writing of his journeys and his work. He currently is involved in lectures and workshops as well as continually painting and having shows.

Gordon has had shows and has collectors throughout North America and Europe. He has been represented by several internationally known galleries including Images International of Hawaii, Steven and Eva Dorag Gallery in Beverly Hills, the Reid Gallery in Carmel, Francis Fine Arts in San Francisco, Bradford E. Horn's Wildlife Gallery in Laguna Beach, The Sienna Galleries in San Mateo and Webster Galleries Inc. in Calgary. He has had his work published in both Canada and the United States.

Born in Kelowna, British Columbia in 1948, his formal education includes two years at Selkirk College in the Kootenays and four years at the University of British Columbia. But in the artist's own words "My real education began during several years of travel throughout the world."

Before his period of travel, much of Gordon's work consisted of acrylic paintings and pencil drawings. About 24 years ago while living in France, Gordon was inspired by an accomplished French pen and ink artist and began drawing in pen and ink. He began using just black and evolved to painting full images with hundreds of separately mixed colours, all entirely created with technical pens. Many of these paintings took as long as 600 hours. "I feel the best way to describe this technique is using a marriage of painting and drawing with pen and ink.

About 12 years ago he began to use the airbrush as a tool to create his paintings. Gordon believes that painting as well as life is an endless evolutionary process and is always searching for new techniques and combinations of techniques to achieve the results. Today the majority of his paintings are created with acrylics using the multi-technique of technical pens, airbrush and paintbrush.

Gordon currently lives on Vancouver Island with Brenda, his companion of 23 years and son Ryan.
