CHARCOAL
An impure carbon finely prepared as a drawing implement, ranging in density and hardness.

PASTEL
A pure powdered pigment formed into sticks that range from soft to vibrant colours. When the paper is covered completely, it is known as a pastel painting, when the paper is exposed through the pastel, it is known as a pastel sketch.
PEN & INK
The use of ink from either a pen or bottle to make an image on paper etc.
PENCIL
Categorized according to the hardness of the lead pencil can be used to make sharp thin lines to a softer, thicker and darker line.
SILVER POINT
A method of drawing pre-dating graphite in which a silver tip is used to draw on a prepared paper surface.
