Stan Phelps was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1949. He attended the University of Calgary, majoring in painting and printmaking and graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1974.
Since 1978 Stan has been working as a painter, muralist, printmaker, freelance designer and co-proprietor of the Heart Studio in Calgary. The Heart Studio is a multi disciplined art facility, which features art exhibitions as well as programs and classes for children and adults. During his extensive travels as a printmaker, Stan has had the opportunity to work as a visiting artist at several internationally renowned studios including: "St. Michael's Printshop" in Newfoundland, "Escuela Nationale des Bellas Artes" and "Taller Jose Galindo" in Murcia, Spain and "Taller de Grabao Tarasco" in Uruapan, Mexico. Stan Phelps is represented in private and corporate collections nationally and internationally. His work has been purchased by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Canada Council Art Bank in Ottawa, Ontario. |
