Dmitry Oivadis was born in 1966 in Zhitomir, Ukraine. He graduated from the Zhitomir Art School and Minsk Art College in Byelorussia. After completing his studies he taught Visual Arts at the Zhitomir Art School and Art College.
In 1998, Dmitry and his family moved to Toronto, Canada. Upon landing in Canada he was immediately moved by and felt the connection with the Canadian landscape. Experiencing the sense of wonder and inspiration that the Group of Seven members must have felt, Dmitry began to focus his artistic interests in capturing the nature of his new homeland. Dmitry prefers to paint on location whenever possible because of the connection he feels to the surrounding landscape and his canvas. Even in winter he will set up his easel outdoors and let the elements become a part of his painting. If time or weather does not facilitate painting on site, he will sketch the scene and later capture it in his studio. He has participated in many regional and national exhibitions in various countries and his oils and watercolour paintings can be found in private and corporate collections in the United States, Canada, England, Germany, Holland, France, Belgium, Israel, China, Singapore, Japan, Russia and the Ukraine.
