Sean was born December 24, 1973 in Parry Sound, Ontario. In November of 1995 he came to Alberta and settled in Calgary in August of 1996.
Ever since Sean was a little boy of five years old, he would spend hours drawing. Even in school Sean would find himself creating little doodles in his notebooks. In September of 1996 Sean picked up some carving tools and just started to carve. Since that day he has been consistently creating intricate and detailed pieces which portray a wonderful imagination and great talent. Sean's main goal at this point is to start carving the nude figure. He believes that to perfect his carving of this form as well as to use harder stones, is his next challenge. With the maturation of his technique, Sean will venture into larger scale works. All these components combined, he would find his work deeply satisfying. Carving is a way of life for Sean; it is his creative outlet. Each piece of stone presents a different challenge, to find the shape that lurks beneath and free it. Artists whose works Sean admires are Paul Manship, Edward McCartan and Michelangelo. |
