Todd's dream is to work and live as a full time Artist. He has always been artistically inclined, but only chose to pursue Art as a career in his early twenties.
Recently retired from Amateur Athletics, Todd was a Long Track Speed Skater. Initially, he tried to skate and paint. This proved to be extremely difficult. Not being able to successfully do both, Todd put painting on hold. After narrowly missing the Olympics twice, Todd retired and moved on to his other passion, painting. Now he is striving to be the best Painter he can be. Skating taught Todd to struggle and persevere, two qualities that are crucial to being a successful artist.
Painting and Drawing are the main focus of Todd's artwork. His influences range from Tom Thomson and The Group of Seven, to Rembrandt, Degas and The Impressionists, Egon Schiele and many others.
Todd spends a lot of his time outdoors. Whether it's painting in Oils, sketching, taking photographs, walking or hiking with his wife, Beth and their dog, Riley, Todd finds it important to immerse himself in the geography of his subject. This is reflected in his work. In the studio Todd transfers his smaller outdoor sketches to larger canvasses; a process he learned from one of his mentors, Tom Thomson. Like some of his predecessors, Todd is fascinated with light and colour and how it affects our world. This is what Todd paints.
Condolife is Todd's cartoon. He created it with two other friends. He writes some of it and does all of the artwork. It can be found on the internet at www.Condolife.net.
Todd recently gained representation in an additional gallery in Levi, Quebec. His paintings have found homes in a variety of cities and countries around the world such as Houston, New York City, Cincinnati, Toronto, Holland, Russia and Japan.
