Hunter and Seal
by Axangayu Shaa
Inuit sculpture envelops a rich cultural heritage, stories passed down for generations and a deep respect for the land and the creatures that inhabit it. The Inuit people and their ancestors have lived in the arctic for over 4,000 years. From their beginnings as a nomadic hunting culture to present day, their art has evolved from small carvings and amulets to the larger more sophisticated works.

Inuit sculpture has an international reputation and is sought after all over the world as a major contemporary art form. In this section we showcase a few of the many outstanding carvings available in our collections.
