Canadian artist Jonathon Earl Bowser has established a presence in the international art marketplace. Since graduating from the Alberta College of Art and Design in 1984, Jonathon has earned his living exclusively as an artist, steadily building his craft and reputation. Jonathon's intricate watercolour and oil paintings of the Rocky Mountains are not only in government and corporate collections here in Alberta, but also many private collections across North America and Europe. Some Even Hang in the government collections of China and Taiwan.
Since childhood, Jonathon has been inspired by the beauty of the natural world, flowering meadows, forest cathedrals, mountain fortresses, magical wildlife and human figures interacting with all these gifts from God. He strives, in his watercolours, to re-acquaint the public with the grandeur of familiar places, or introduce them to the spectacular vistas of the more remote mountain wilderness known only to the hikers and backpackers.
In his oil paintings, Jonathon takes his reverence of nature a step further, developing what he describes as "Mythic Naturalism." These dreamscapes – where the human figure might symbolize civilization and our relation to the rest of the natural world or the forces of nature – endeavor to communicate, with mythological symbols, the interrelation and connection between humanity, nature and the cosmos. Jonathon, in his quest for spirituality through creativity, considers these images part of an evolving philosophy regarding the nature of existence and divinity.
Jonathon's life is about creativity. As with his painting, he also seeks to integrate his philosophy into his other passions: musical composition and writing. His skill and determination to grow as an artist, seems certain to propel him to even greater success in the art world.
