Ludmilla, also known as Mewa Armata, was born in 1954 in Poland. She has an extensive arts background with a Master in Fine Arts from the Krakow Arts Academy. As well as doing solo and group exhibitions in Poland, Czechoslovakia and now Montreal where she now resides, Mewa involves herself in teaching printmaking. Ludmilla and her husband Paul have their own studio and print for numerous Quebec artists as well as Mewa's own work. She is especially interested in teaching children the magic and mysteries of the various print making methods.

It is this whimsical and childlike quality that she exhibits in her latest series of hand painted etchings. The images are equally suitable for children and the child in all of us. They vary from a camel grinning at us with his hats titled "three Hats are Better Than One" or "Nest" where a mother elephant is hovering over her babies in a nest at the top of a chimney plus a variety of others. Mewa's personality and sense of humour radiates from each and every one of these delightful prints.
